Hockey Introduction Program
Also known as the Hockey Initiation Program, HIP is for boys and girls ages 4-8 and is designed for eager hockey players who want to learn the basics of the game. The players should have entry level skating abilities. HIP focuses on improving skating skills, stick-handling, and positioning.
If you have an older child wishing to start hockey we will direct you to the age and skill appropriate recreation level at the appropriate time. Please contact Jay Boxer at cornerstoneicecenterjay@gmail.com
Mandatory Equipment for Hockey Programs:
- Hockey Helmet
- Hockey pants (breezers)
- Hockey Gloves
- Elbow & Shin Pads
- Skates – Please ensure that skates are sharpened before the first practice. Skates may be sharpened at Penalty Box (located inside Cornerstone).
- Stick – Stand with skates on and hold the stick in front of the skater. The stick should be 1 to 2 inches below or above the chin.
We encourage skaters to wear loose-fitting sports clothing under the equipment to allow them to be comfortable while on the ice.
